Transylvania, the land behind the forests, is surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. You have heard about it, but have never visited it. We have prepared a selection of pictures to delight you and to welcome you. More about Transylvania and its hidden treasures can be found here.
First mentioned 2000 years ago by Ptolemy, Cluj-Napoca is located in the heart of Transylvania. The various cultural and material influences, which left their mark on Transylvania’s history, made up an important cultural and historic legacy of monuments, ancient vestiges or medieval churches and cathedrals at the side of modern masterpieces, as well as museums, memorial houses and architecture monuments.
Cluj-Napoca city, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, is an intellectual centre with an active society, renowned universities, museums, theatres and eye-catching architecture. Cluj-Napoca is the home of 8 universities, every 4th inhabitant being a student. With its variegated landscape and privileged geographical setting in the heart of Transylvania, Cluj displays a wide range of tourist and leisure activities; moreover, Cluj-Napoca enjoys the favorable positioning at the crossroads of two important tourist routes: E60, which crosses southwest of Cluj County, an important artery for transit tourism, and the route to Maramures County.
Due to its location on important trade routes which is attracting new businesses and investment, Cluj is an important industrial and commercial centre. With a population of around 400,000 people and 100,000 students, the city has also a major role in education. The personality of the place comes from its multiculturalism and diversity. Cluj is an ideal gateway to Transylvania with its cultural heritage well preserved, and the Apuseni Mountains offering extensive limestone formations that give rise to spectacular sceneries.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in our city and we cordially invite you to participate to the CONCEPTS 2025.
